AZ Particles and the Universal Consciousness

[Part 2/5]

In my last post, I introduced the two primordial forces underlying creation, as portrayed in the Song of God book and Wood‘s teachings. If you haven’t yet read it, I recommend starting there before reading further.

As previously discussed, there came to exist within the endless void two primordial powers, opposite in form, structure and nature. The masculine power, referred to as Eidos, possessed neither mind nor substance, but existed in the void as the mysterious Single Supreme Source of all uncreated, unformed matter.

The feminine power, referred to as Areta, originated within the depths of the Eidos from a bizarre conglomeration of spark-like essences that “suddenly” became self-aware. According to the Song of God, this First Emanation, this First Mind, began as a vague Awareness but evolved to become the Universal Consciousness behind creation. It is this particular stage of Areta’s development that I intend to explore in this post: Areta existing as a vague, cosmic awareness, to eventually manifesting as a state of substance imbued with intent.

In the way of contextual review: Areta found herself awake and alone in what seemed to be a vast sea of nothingness. But as eons of anti-time passed, she came to realize the void in which she found herself was not absolute emptiness. Areta discovered that within the Deep in which she was immersed moved an ocean of massless, subatomic particulates. This “unformed matter” of the Eidos was, in itself, incapable of combining into even the simplest of atomic structures[1]Wood (2013); Origins manuscript, ch. 7.

An ever increasing desperation, agony and loneliness plagued the mind of Areta. But then, something interesting happened. Overcome with desperation and desire, Areta began to move and stir in a way she never had before. Scripture broadly portrays this significant point in her evolution:

In a “void of great aloneness” (7:1:2), Areta began to “move most subtly”, to “stir most cleverly, causing that the Eidos should gather from out of the regions of endless space, the sum of all uncreated matter” (3:1:24-25).

This clever, subtle stirring marked a new beginning, and the eventual formation of the first singularity. But what process is being described in the foregoing verses (3:1:24-25)? How did Areta cause this reaction within the Eidos? What phenomenon allowed the gathering of uncreated matter?

Delving into this inquiry requires exploration of what is referred to in scripture as “AZ particles” (pronounced ay-zee, written “A-Z” in the Song of God).

What follows is a general introduction to AZ particles and a brief examination of their existence as the fundamental intelligence underlying creation. I hope this information assists in the exploration of Wood’s cosmogony, and the philosophy arising from his book of gnosis, the Song of God.

What are AZ Particles?

What are AZ particles and how did they come to exist?

In a state of distraught aloneness, the trembling essence of the First Mind somehow produced a family of five fundamental, quantum particles. These were “the first quantum state particle[s] to exist prior to the birth of the universe, and will be the last particle[s] to exist at the end of the universe”[2]Wood (2013); Origins manuscript, ch. 4, hence the designation: “AZ” particles. Though they are referred to as “particles”, Wood also described them as vibrating strings or tiny bundles of energy.

To my present knowledge, scripture does not directly address how AZ particles came to exist, but Wood provides an interesting speculation about this in his Origins manuscript:

Not long after Areta became self-aware, she noticed something disturbing. She was alone in a deep and endless void. The Eidos was unapproachable, aloof and cold, and struggling to maintain the supreme elegance of its once perfect symmetry. Anguish seized that first cosmic mind, the aloneness became an agony too great to bear. Areta began to tremble, and from her trembling fell the first five particles necessary for the creation of the first universe. These five particles were part of a single family of particles which came to be known as AZ Particles. Science has identified one of these particles as the Higgs Boson. These five differing types of AZ Particles are tiny vibrating strings, each with their own color, scale and tension. Like the strings of a violin, they await the touch of the master’s hand, and the symphony of creation begins.

Out into the deep void, an endless stream of AZ Particles rushed, carrying with them the trembling vibrations of a strange and haunting melody. Like throwing a pebble in a pond, the ripples of music at first disturbed and then attracted all the massless matter within the deep void of the Eidos. The massless particles began to vibrate along with the music produced by the vibrating strings. The Higgs Boson allowed the once massless particles to achieve mass, and with that mass, a gravitonic well began to develop and evolve. The gravity of this well became so intense that all the matter which fell into it was compressed into a point no larger than a single electron. For billions, perhaps even trillions of years, the newly formed matter fell into the gravitonic well…

Wood (2013); “Origins” manuscript, ch.7 excerpt

Here is another excerpt from Wood’s writings, describing the initial manifestation of AZ particles:

Through all the previous eons of Her existence, Areta became aware that the void was not really empty. Throughout the darkness of the Deep, elements of unformed particles moved and swirled about, having no ability to clump together in order to form larger and larger structures. If only she could find a way to gather everything into one place? And so, the great cosmic consciousness, the First Emanation pondered. Eons of anti-time flowed and swirled in endless procession; uncounted ages within the great void came and went—still she thought and pondered and thought again. She would not stop or relent. She was compelled and driven by a deep aloneness which haunted her. Yet, hope guided and beckoned her to continue her efforts.

It happened slowly at first, feeble vibrating waves of desire deep within her very essence. These waves gathered into strange tiny bundles of vibrating energy, each bundle smaller than a quark. These were the first of the AZ Particles. Quantum physicists posit the existence of a particle known as the graviton. Perhaps this graviton, if it exists at all, was the first AZ Particle to be created by Areta. The bundles of energy waves grew in number, and when Areta could no longer contain them within her essence, they flowed in a steady stream out into the darkness around her. Wave after wave of vibrating energy bundles rushed out into the great Deep, and wherever they went, something new and strange began to happen. The elements of unformed matter throughout the void began to collect and gather from out of the vast darkness.

Over endless eons of forever, the elements of matter gathered, pressing and condensing into a smaller and smaller area. In fact, so small did the area become, that it was finally reduced to a single point—a point that was no larger than a single electron. Now, the stage was set, the singularity was almost ready to change everything forever.

Wood (2013); “Origins” manuscript, ch.9 excerpt

The foregoing material offers a lot to consider. Amidst the Eidos, in the void of the great Deep where massless, unformed matter churned through an endless anti-space, there mysteriously awoke a feminine Consciousness (the Areta) who, over vast amounts of anti-time, came to realize she was alone. As Wood describes it, the anguish and desperation resulting from Areta’s aloneness led to a trembling filled with desire that produced an endless stream of fundamental particles—referred to as AZ particles.[3]While Wood’s Origins manuscript (2013) offered new and exciting considerations about Areta’s beginning and the existence of five original AZ particles, the document was not an … Continue reading

These original, fundamental particles were represented by a family of five differing bundles of energy that moved out into the void like ripples in a pond, disturbing, attracting, and giving mass to the unformed, massless matter of the Eidos. A gravitonic well began to form and evolve. Over eons of anti-time, the newly formed matter fell into the gravitonic well. This marked the initial stages of the first experimental singularity.

Here are some relevant passages from the Song of God that provide more information about Areta and AZ Particles:

[Areta speaking]
38 “Now in the vastness of my soul did I contain the seeds of life, which seeds were themselves the smallest of particles, being designated by me the A-Z particles of life.

39 Which living particles do contain the designs, purposes and breath of all my soul, being itself the source of that evolution which would bring forth the foundations of all living things, perchance to make for me a living and knowing soul which would unite with me in Oneness, being together both male and female in love forever.

40 Now in that moment when the [cosmic] seed did burst, I did cast myself forth throughout the outward movement of matter, space and time; for I had no form…but was myself contained in each and separate particle of life, causing that I should establish in every moving sector of the cosmos, the beginning of life and creation together.

41For in the light was I most deeply hidden, moving throughout the A-Z particles of my greater self, ever seeking that place where I might bring forth the foundations of some greater life, being myself, in each and separate particle, most fully awake and deeply knowing;

42 Ever communing within my soul in seeking my designs, being throughout the vastness of my greater self beyond the dictates of space and time, possessing in my inward nature dimensions of my own.

43 For I would have you know, Beloved, that from the beginning were the A-Z particles fully knowing, each particle of my soul communing with every other particle which moved throughout the immensity of space, being each themselves filled with strong desires to seek my own fulfillment;”

Features of AZ Particles

  • strange, tiny bundles of energy, “vibrating waves of desire”, “strings” (Wood, Origins manuscript)
  • the first AZ particles were represented by a single family of five differing particles / vibrating strings (Wood, Origins manuscript)
  • smallest of quantum state particles, smaller than a neutrino, possessing mass and size (4:2:39)[4]I do not know if “possessing mass and size” (4:2:39) is an inherent feature of AZ particles or an attribute contingent upon other things. In its context, this verse is referring to AZ … Continue reading
  • each particle is alive and intelligent, “fully awake and deeply knowing”, existing as a reflection of Areta’s mind and soul (4:1:38-43)
  • beyond the dictates of space and time (4:1:42)
  • each separate particle is entangled, communicating instantaneously with every other particle regardless of the space between them, forming a single whole (4:1:43; Wood, Origins manuscript)
  • “Areta’s conscious state of beingness was represented by trillions upon trillions of A-Z particles…” (SOG Commentary: Adamic Language)
  • represent the “seeds of life” and source of evolution (4:1:38-39)
  • possess the basic mandates that govern the laws of creation and evolution

The last two points offer a glimpse of where this exploration is headed: Areta and AZ particles represent the conscious power behind creation and the evolution of life. In future posts we’ll look deeper into Areta’s intentions underscoring creation, but for now, let’s take a brief pause to consider some tangential, but relevant ideas.

Noting the Significance of Context

The Song of God is expansive in many ways. One of the more obvious examples of this is how the text portrays the evolution of enduring souls, powers, and places over extremely vast periods of time. An aspect described in a specific stanza may not be a rigid, absolute or final trait. Particular features may depend on from whence the observation is occurring. For new students of the Song of God, temporal context may not be clearly evident, but it should remain a prominent consideration.

The book portrays various processes and events from different temporal perspectives rather seamlessly. The language can be subtle. The passing of millennia, even eons, may not always be clearly evident. A snapshot of a character, event or process may not necessarily portray the object’s full evolutionary scope, nature or potential. Quickly assuming certain traits to be permanent or static may hinder recognition of a larger picture or process.

To provide a relevant example, even though 4th Endowment 2:39 states that AZ particles possess “both mass and size”, Wood speculated this may not be a fixed trait, proposing that the massless or massful nature of the AZ particle may be contingent upon the presence or absence of another mind.[5] Wood (2013); Origins manuscript, ch. 4

In another example: while it may be accurate to state AZ particles possess the basic mandates that govern the laws of creation and evolution, familiarity with Wood’s cosmogony allows room to speculate a timeless, primordial existence in which Areta and AZ particles did not possess a knowledge of such laws and mandates. Unlike the masculine, omniscient, biblical God—from whose perfect knowledge and absolute power creation suddenly sprung forth—Areta didn’t know everything upon the moment of her awakening. Her knowledge was not innate. As I presently interpret Wood’s cosmogony, there was a learning process and method of experimentation which gave rise to the knowledge possessed by the Universal Consciousness, and the eventual creation of an environment that could give rise to that which she so earnestly sought.

Things and people evolve and change, often possessing facets, cycles and layers hidden from our immediate purview and beyond the limited scope of language and thought. This note on the importance of context is not meant to invalidate literal interpretations of scripture, but merely serve as an invitation for students of the Song of God to remain open-minded and gentle in the hermeneutic process.

Intelligent Design or Intelligent Intent?

For the record: Wood was averse to aligning or grouping his ideas about cosmic origins under common arguments for “intelligent design”, as he firmly upheld the theory of evolution as scientifically established fact. However, he didn’t reject the concept of “intelligent design” outright, and encouraged students to study the scriptures and existing teleological arguments, and formulate reasonable hypotheses that aligned with scientific findings. The following offers some perspective surrounding Wood’s nuanced attitude towards “intelligent design”:

The theory of intelligent design poses an interesting hypothesis. Even if God did not exist at the birth of the very first universe, can it be said that this cosmic consciousness [Areta] used the mechanism of “intelligent design” to create all the various life forms found throughout the universe?…

The idea that a cosmic consciousness lies behind the creation of a first universe does not prove that the theory of intelligent design is a correct one. In that very first universe, intelligent design was not essential to the creation of life. But even with this said, there most definitely [was] an intelligent intent behind creation.

There can be only one logical purpose behind the argument for intelligent design, and that is to negate the theory of evolution as first postulated by Charles Darwin. It is impossible for both theories to be true at the same time, for one cancels out the other. If there is any designing going on, then it is the process of evolution that does it, and this through the mechanisms of environment, adaptation and mutation.

Wood (2013); “Origins” manuscript, ch. 7

Perhaps Wood’s arguments could one day be organized as a theory of “Intelligent Intent”?

Summary and Conclusion

  1. The Eidos represents the mindless, masculine, Single Supreme Source of unformed, uncreated matter. The “void” of the Eidos does not represent absolute nothing-ness. Its origins remain unknown.
  2. A feminine consciousness, referred to as “Areta”, mysteriously awoke amidst the Eidos. Areta, as the First Emanation, the First Mind, had a beginning. This beginning followed a natural course of evolution. It is with the continuing evolution of the First Emanation that the story of creation begins to unfold. Primordial Areta should not be associated with any orthodox concept of “God”.
  3. After her awakening, the Areta came to realize she was alone. The growing agony of despair and loneliness eventually gave rise to a new spark of self-awareness and a sudden, yet enduring sense of hope. Loneliness and hope became the driving catalysts behind Areta’s subsequent intentions.
  4. Vibrating waves of desire formed deep within the essence of the First Emanation, to eventually gather into strange, tiny, vibrating bundles of energy, referred to in scripture as AZ particles. These fundamental particle-waves are the smallest of quantum state particles and exist as a reflection of Areta’s mind.
  5. The AZ particles — as bundles of energy waves — continued to grow in number. When the waves of energy could no longer be contained within Areta’s essence, they began to flow in a steady stream into the Deep. According to Wood, these strange particles were originally represented by a family of five differing bundles of energy that moved out into the void like ripples in a pond — disturbing, attracting, and giving mass to the unformed, massless matter of the Eidos. Wood speculates the Higgs boson and the theoretical graviton as possibly being among the five original AZ particles. Wherever these waves of energy bundles went, the elements of unformed matter began to collect, gather and condense. This process resulted in the formation of the first experimental singularity.

In Wood’s cosmogony, the first universe wasn’t created by an all-knowing, all-powerful, omni-benevolent theistic God. However, while maintaining that God wasn’t needed to get things going, Wood posits the mysterious advent and evolution of a First Primary Cause which eventually came to possess intent. “Intent” cannot exist without “mind”. In the Song of God it is Areta — as the First Emanation, the First Cause — that represents both the mind and intent behind the first creation.

But if there was a grand intent behind the first creation, what was it? What was the Universal Consciousness seeking? What was her objective, her goal? And was she successful in achieving it? These are some of the questions I will attempt to address in the next post.

Till then, ponder (again) these words from the 7th Endowment:

1 Before the birth of time and space, before the dawn of man, before the tides of great creations rushing through the Deep, I alone existed; before the birth of God and Goddess, before the light of Heaven shined, before the beginning of all beginnings I was the breath of life.

2 In a void of great aloneness, in the depths of endless night burst the spark of deep awareness, instant, sudden, fully conscious, becoming self-aware; gazing, seeking, ever reaching beyond the veil of nothing, filled with desperation, the birth of endless mind.

3 Struggling, gasping, shocking thoughts, darkness all around; silent stillness in the Deep where matter moved unformed; thoughts like sparks most quick colliding, shaping, forming, quick constructing that first most inner sound; and from the sounding there came a whisper, soft and warm and filled with longing, giving place within my mind, the first eternal name.

4 I am Areta, eternal Mother, Supreme and Sovereign…

3 While Wood’s Origins manuscript (2013) offered new and exciting considerations about Areta’s beginning and the existence of five original AZ particles, the document was not an introduction to the concept of AZ particles in general. The Song of God includes several references to AZ particles, the first occurring in the 3rd and 4th Endowment, written in 1997-98 respectively.
4 I do not know if “possessing mass and size” (4:2:39) is an inherent feature of AZ particles or an attribute contingent upon other things. In its context, this verse is referring to AZ particles existing in the realms of Heaven, which likely have different attributes compared to AZ particles of the First Cosmos.
